So.. Glee is one of the shows that will forever have a spot in pop culture with my generation and probably my brothers (he's 16). It's amazingly uplifting and sends a wonderful message to teenagers. Rosie O'Donnell just commented on the show by saying that Lauren Zizes (who is a female member of Glee club and happens to be of a larger body size) should have been casted prettier. First off, are you kidding!? I think Ashley Fink is really pretty! They hide her behind glasses and wrestling outfits on the show and you, Rosie of all people should know that!
Secondly.. Rosie also said that she was looking for Lauren's character to belt out an amazing song. Well if she was paying attention, her character was only recruited as a last ditch effort to fill the stage as a 12th man when Kurt left for Dalton Academy. So they just needed her to complete their line up. It wasn't about her amazing singing talent.
Lastly, I am appalled that anyone would say that about someone else at all ( let alone publicly!) Especially you Ms. O'Donnell. You yourself haven't seen the best of days and I don't think anyone has come out and said you were ugly.
I admire the character of Lauren's always confident and amazing attitude toward everything. I feel like most overweight high school girls are portrayed to have this pitifully low self esteem (Look at the show Huge on ABCFamily) and she is outstandingly confident. Much more so than even some of the standard 'pretty' girls on the show- take Rachel for instance.. She needs public affirmation to have any type of self esteem.
So YOU Rosie O'Donnell.. need to adjust your standard for pretty girls because it is you who has the problem- not the casting directors.
